ECU Junior Volunteers
St. Joseph’s General Hospital would like to thank all of the Summer Junior Volunteers who gave their time and efforts from July 4th – August 18th. Ages of the Junior Volunteers range from 13-18 years old and are going to be enrolled in full-time classes at school (Gr. 9-12) starting in September.
There are currently Junior Volunteer opportunities available with St. Joseph’s General Hospital for the fall of 2006. We are asking for a small commitment of 2 hours per week for the fall program.
Before Junior Volunteers can start, there is a mandatory orientation and training session of approximately 2 hours. Orientations will include a hospital tour, information and protocol of the program, fire and safety regulations, and emergency procedures. Junior Volunteers must be identifiable at all times, therefore, we do require all Junior Volunteers wear a standard T-Shirt purchased through the hospital for $10.
All duties performed by Junior Volunteers are under supervision by the Junior Volunteer Supervisor. These duties may include:
- Interaction with residents
- Participation in activities such as arts and crafts, poster making, gardening, crossword, puzzles, and Scrabble
- Assisting with offering beverages and food
- Assisting in cleaning up after special events
- Assisting with various activity programs such as outings, crafts, woodworking, and baking
- Participation in games such as Skittles, Horseshoes, Bean Bag Toss, and Bowling
Together we can work toward the goal of providing a warm, caring home environment, and contribute to the quality of life of the
residents.
