Visiting Hours

Hospital Visiting Hours

Note: Visitors entering or exiting the building after 9:00 p.m. must do so through the Emergency Entrance as the Main Entrance and other entrances/exits will be locked.

While having visitors is encouraged on most wards, staff may limit the time and the numbers of people coming, if circumstances warrant. The hospital also recommends that patients and relatives limit the volume of visitors themselves, to permit the much needed rest that promotes recovery.

Anyone unwell should not come to the hospital visiting; a sick visitor won't help a friend or relative get better by making them, other patients and the staff ill. If uncertain, talking it over with the patient's nurse can put a visitor's mind at ease.

The Visiting hours are:

Maternity:
  • General visiting hours, including siblings and grandparents are from 1:30 - 8:30 p.m. Partners may visit any time and are encouraged, when possible, to stay in hospital with their partner and new baby.

  • Medical/Surgical Units:
  • 1:30 - 8:30 p.m.

  • Paediatrics:
  • Open visiting hours for parents only. Siblings and other relatives may visit at the discretion of the Nurse Manager/Designate between 1:30-8:30 p.m.

  • Intensive Care:
  • Restricted to immediate family only between the hours of 10:00 a.m.-noon, 3:00-5:00 p.m. and 8:00-9:00 p.m.

  • Extended Care:
  • Open visiting hours.

  • Psychiatry:
  • Monday to Thursday 4:00-8:00 p.m.
  • Friday 2:00-8:00 p.m.
  • Weekends and holidays 1:30-8:30 p.m.

  • Day Care:
  • Patients receiving care in this department have very short visits. Since space is limited, visiting is restricted. Family members providing transportation/support are asked to wait in the lobby or visit the cafeteria.

  • In special circumstances, a family member may request a cot in a patient's private room to stay overnight.
