Youth Volunteers
Youth volunteers are very important members of our St. Joseph's Hospital community. Patients, residents and staff all look forward to the injection of energy and optimism that they bring. In their distinctive red t-shirts, they can be seen throughout the hospital. Junior Volunteers develop relationships with residents and staff in The Views residential care and in the Transitional Care Unit as they help with all kinds of activities. Candystripers help in the acute care areas of the hospital, providing patient comforts and staff support. Our Youth Volunteer program is open to girls and boys in Grades 8 to 12, who serve usually one day per week. Shifts are from 4:00 - 5:30 Monday to Thursday, with extra shifts on the Transitional Care Unit from 4:00 - 5:30 on Friday and 2:00 - 4:00 on Saturday and Sunday. We ask for a commitment to volunteer for the entire school year. There is very high demand for this program, so if you want to join us, act quickly. Becoming a Youth VolunteerThere are a few steps involved in becoming a Youth Volunteer at St. Joseph's.
